Types of Membership
1. Life Member Eligibility:
To become a Life Member of IADVL, applicants must hold a postgraduate qualification in Dermatology or Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy from:
- A medical college affiliated with and awarded by an Indian University or an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or its equivalent (such as the National Medical Commission).
- Or, hold a Diploma/Degree in Dermatology or Dermatology and Venereology from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
- Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure their degrees are recognized by the MCI or a similar Government of India body.
2. Provisional Life Member (PLM) Eligibility:
Postgraduate students currently enrolled in an MD/DNB/Diploma course in Dermatology, Venereology, or Leprosy are eligible to apply as Provisional Life Members.
- Once the postgraduate qualification is completed and the necessary documentation is submitted, the Provisional Life Membership can be converted into full Life Membership.
3. Associate Member Eligibility:
This category is open to individuals from allied medical fields or those interested in dermatology-related work who wish to engage with the association’s academic and professional activities. Associate members do not have voting rights or eligibility to hold office.

Benefits for All Members:
- Participation Rights: Attend and take part in all general body meetings, clinical meetings, lectures, CMEs, and conferences organized by IADVL (National or State Branch).
- Academic Access: Receive the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology (IJDVL) – a prestigious indexed medical journal.
- Communication & Updates: Receive all official communications, announcements, brochures, and updates related to IADVL activities, including national and state conferences.
- Bulletin Access: Get access to IADVL NEWS, the official bulletin of the association.
- SARAD Membership: Automatically become a member of the South Asian Regional Association of Dermatologists (SARAD).
Additional Privileges for Life Members:
- Issuance of a Life Membership Certificate and Membership ID Card with a unique membership number.
- Voting Rights: Eligible to vote in elections for office bearers at the State and National levels (except retired members, PLMs, ALMs, or honorary members).
- Leadership Opportunities: Eligible to be elected as office bearers or members of the Central Council, subject to meeting criteria.
- Grants & Awards: Only life members are eligible to apply for IADVL-sponsored fellowships, scholarships, awards, and medals.
- Conference Hosting: Life members can hold academic events and conferences under the IADVL banner.
- Postgraduate Upgrade: Postgraduate students who joined as Provisional Life Members can convert to Life Members upon completion of their qualification.
Special Benefits for Provisional Life Members:
- Discounted Registration Fees for national and state conferences organized by IADVL.
- Seamless upgrade to Life Membership upon graduation, ensuring continued access to member benefits.
